Philosophy

Since our founding in 1980 we at Foyston, Gordon & Payne Inc. (FGP) have been dedicated to helping our clients preserve their capital and achieve solid returns within a conservative investment framework.  To provide the highest standards of client service, we are guided by three principles:

     (i) Giving client portfolios our ongoing full attention
    (ii) Communicating with clients in a professional, clear  & responsive manner
    (iii) Listening to what our clients have to say about how we can improve our service.

Process
 
At Foyston, Gordon & Payne each client account is assigned a lead portfolio manager, a backup manager and an administrator responsible for supporting the account. 

We recommend a face-to-face meeting at least once a year to discuss the plan objectives, risk tolerance and on-going monitoring of the fund. We want our clients to understand how we manage their money: our philosophy, the approach and its implementation.  When we discuss investment performance, we will always relate it to the objectives of each client. We are always available by phone throughout the year to answer any questions or concerns on the account.
 
While clients receive monthly statements from the custodian selected for the mandate further communication is also provided by FGP quarterly through our comprehensive client-reporting package.
 
It includes a detailed portfolio valuation with holdings and transactions, a performance report and an FGP quarterly investment commentary/outlook. Periodically, we write and pass along articles on investment-related topics as well as information that may be of interest to our clients (an industry report, for example).  Please click here to view sample our Quarterly Report.
 
People

FGP’s exceptional Private Client Services consists of three seasoned investment professionals, namely:
  1. Stephen Copeland, Sr. Vice President Private Client Services;
  2. Murray Leiter, Vice President & Portfolio Manager
  3. Mark Klinkow, Vice President & Portfolio Manager

These three key personnel are supported by portfolio administrators led by Bessie Terzi, STI. Bessie joined FGP in 2001 and is Manager of Private Client Services. Prior to joining the firm, she worked in the Private Client Wealth Management Operations Division at the Trust Company of Bank of Montreal as a Registered Products Specialist.  She has completed the Trust Institutes Specialist program through the Institute of Canadian Bankers (ICB) and has had a Specialist, Trust Institute designation since 2001.

Private Client Fee Schedule

Our fee schedule for private clients is available upon request.  Please note that our private client services require a minimum investment of $1 million per immediate family relationship.  For investments below our minimum, investors can benefit from our investment strategies through a number of third party services.
