A Legacy of Excellence at Foyston, Gordon & Payne
Our Beginnings
In 1980, three partners—Donald Foyston, Peter Gordon, and Malcolm Payne—launched our firm. Each founder brought extensive expertise and deep knowledge of institutional investment and private money management. Guided by a belief in the discipline and success of value investing, FGP quickly built strong client relationships grounded in trust and integrity, supported by rigorous research and analysis.
Our Growth and Evolution
More than four decades later, FGP has grown to nearly 50 employees while maintaining our commitment to investing in high-quality companies with attractive valuations—just as our founders envisioned.
While we benefit from an equity interest from Affiliated Managers Group, Inc. (AMG), FGP remains fully autonomous. Nearly 40% of FGP is owned by its employees, ensuring our interests are closely aligned with those of our clients. As our investment team manages portfolios for institutional and high-net-worth clients, we also take an active role in managing our firm. Our history of collective success reflects the disciplined excellence that has always set FGP apart.
Our Vision
At Foyston, Gordon & Payne, our vision is to be our clients’ trusted investment partner, by focusing on two simple, but not easy, things: a superior client experience and best-in-class, long-term investment solutions.
Our edge is that we act as owner-operators, who foster a high-performance culture and deliver on our promise.
